Bandwidth Throttling

Bandwidth throttling - its choking me!

Definition:

In computer networking terms bandwidth throttling refers to the limiting of usable bandwidth. Network administrators use bandwidth throttling to limit the amount of bandwidth on a per user basis over the entire network.

The main purpose is to alleviate network congestion and to ensure that all users have equal usage of the network resources and to prevent some users from hogging the network bandwidth.
