Clock cycle - tick tock you're on the clock

Definition:

In computer or electronic terms a clock cycle is a single electronic pulse of the internal  oscillator that drives the speed of the internal circuitry like the CPU. The oscillator is designed to run at a specific frequency and is measured in hertz.

Modern computers runs in the region of a couple of Gigahertz (GHz)
