In project management, scope creep refers to unexpected or uncontrolled changes to a project’s original scope or definition. Scope creep has a negative impact and can affect the cost and extend the time line of the project by pushing out the date for final implementation.
In software development project terms, an example of scope creep would be when new features or functionality are requested that were not originally included in the specification. The software development team may have to add additional programmers to the team and possibly make changes to work already completed, causing cost over runs.
